RECOGNITION

Bob Aldous works with a wide variety of water-based media such as ink, watercolour, crayon and acrylic on fine silk. The works are reminiscent of Landscape, particularly the atmospheric layering of light, water and air.
The abstract compositions look back, with reverence, to masters of the past with a particular regard for renaissance and the English romantic landscape tradition.
Bob has been commissioned by the Langham Hotel in London to produce works in the luxury sterling suite as well as commissions for the Hyatt Carlton Hotel , the Royal Albert Hall and the Savoy Theatre.
Beautiful and delicate are adjectives that have been used by collectors and critics to describe the paintings of Bob Aldous. They are designed to be seen as visual poems that connect the inner world of the imagination with external sensory perception.

Many people have said that they experience a sense of calm when looking at these lyrical paintings.

Studied with Roger Ackling and Brian Fielding at Ravensbourne college of Art in 1984. His main influence in this period was the artist Gustav Metzger who was a visiting tutor. Bob was active in the group "Artists support Peace" and participated in performance in Covent Garden and Greenham Common.
His interest in Peace activities lead him to be chosen for the commemoration of the London Bombings in 2007 in Saint Paul's Cathedral and St Pancras Church.
Further studies were followed at Goldsmiths College and a Masters Degree at the University of East Anglia were he was awarded a distinction. He presently acts as a visiting tutor for the University of East Anglia and the University of Arts London.
