Joseph Farris

I was born in Newark, NJ in 1954. I've been married twice, have one child. My present wife is an art teacher.

I find it difficult to categorize my work. It's quite personal and uses the human figure in unusual ways. One onlooker said the paintings were expressive mysticism. Perhaps. Some are dark and broody, others bright and more accessible.

I graduated from The Whitney School of Art I won the Emily Lowe Award Competition and had a one-man show at the Ward Eggleston Gallery. I became a artist on the staff of The New Yorker where I contributed cartoons and covers.,
