Alberto Hernandez Reyes

I'am a cuban painter who live and work in New York, USA. I define my painting as mythical poetry with a supernatural and mystical vision. My intension is to deepen the search for a language that exhibits the strange and enigmatic quality of Nature. The tricks I base on to get the effects according to my proposal are many: the atmosphere is the main feature, assuming with this the softness of the outlines and the use of limited gamuts. The use of light is essential: The spaces addressed are practically surreal scenarios that gravitate between the perception of the birth of Creation and apocalyptic shadows. And light is capable here of tipping the balance towards one concept or another.
It is about offering a personal look and revealing hidden meanings in a landscape that is nothing more than the projection of the human soul onto reality.
