ABOUT
EXHIBITIONS

Albertus has been a successful artist for many years and continues to explore his passion through various art mediums and styles.
He studied art and architecture at the University of Pretoria in his native country of South Africa. Albertus also completed a law degree from the same institution and worked in law and commerce for many years whilst continuing to pursue his passion for art. He moved with his young family to New Zealand during 1997 and has since taken part in various exhibitions; both as solo artist and in groups. Albertus' work continues to evolve and he has recently produced a series of works, using recycled materials as medium. Small sections of cut paper glued to canvas or wood panel, glazed over with multiple layers of thinned oil paint, and finally varnished to ensure archival integrity. Some pieces represent elements of graphic poster art in intricate patterns, while others make use of letters, words and fragments of words to create distinctive abstract works.

“I’m excited by the idea of creating art from recycled materials. Taking a rejected object and bringing it into a new frame of reference. Creating something new that will hopefully add some colour and enjoyment to someone else’s life”.

Various group and solo exhibitions since 2004
