The work of Alex Barrrera moves between painting, art and cinema.
Symbolism and a certain poetic perspective are present in his work. Travel, memory and time play key elements.
An audiovisual technician, Alex graduated from CECC film school in Barcelona, where he specialized in cinematography. He also has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona.
In 2011 he was the Director of Photography on the film "Au Revoir," directed by Toni Barrena, which received many awards and selections to worldwide film festivals. Alex was nominated for Best Photography at the International Festival Islantilla de Huelva.
In 2014 he directed "The Leaf," his first short film as a director. "The Leaf" was selected at many international festivals and awarded prizes in Houston, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro and New York. Alex was a finalist for Best Cinematography in a Los Angeles film magazine.
In 2016 Alex worked as an editor on the documentary film, "The Stone Circle," directed by Patrick Pfister, due to be released in 2016. Alex's second short film as a director, "The Sphere," is currently in pre-production.
