Enchanting trees of Alex Raynor,


"That guy must really love trees", - that's what I thought first, viewing the paintings created by Alex Raynor. Taking a closer look at every one of them, I found myself captured by their mysterious attractiveness. The simple lines of the tree contrast amazingly to a very complicated background. It looks like the artist was working wholeheartedly at the background, creating his own universe on every new canvas, and then, when the universe was ready, he settled there one single inhabitant, to live and rule this new world.

I can find a reflection of all my emotions in those trees, but they are much more than just a reflection. Everybody knows the trees as the symbols of eternal life. People come and pass, being busy with their very important problems, being worried and anxious, while the trees observe this fuss and stay calm and silent. Just as a walk in the woods brings peace to our hearts, viewing those painted trees can sooth our restless minds. It feels like a breath of fresh air.

I am a self taught painter. I did study photography many years ago, when film was still the standard format. But I love the freedom that paint gives me.
With photography I felt like I was only capturing an image. Painting lets me be in total control to create.
