ELIS / alis la luna - is more than just a contemporary art practitioner, she is an anthropologist of marginal beauty. Her Soviet origins and artistic philosophy (as well as metamodern views) prompt the artist to question and challenge the modern understanding of herself, culture and identity. Her art practice is about authenticity and freedom, about imperfection and the passage of time, about life and death, about sex and bodies. Using a varied range of media (collage, photography, poetry, video art, performance), Elis explores different concepts of the modern world. Her art is to be appreciated by an attentive and observant contemporary viewer who is not afraid of emotions and to look closer.
