Andrea Lamas (Buenos Aires, 1976)
"My work explores the thresholds between the visible and the hidden in the flow of life. Through layered acrylics that sediment like memories, I construct abstract landscapes where recognizable fragments - traces, words, or organic forms - emerge as clues. These surfaces, suspended between figuration and abstraction, invite viewers into an introspective experience.
Renowned Argentine artist Luis Felipe Noé has observed about my work:
'Your paintings are as abstract as they are figurative, like a philosophical conversation. They adjective the world in abstract terms: concepts in formation...'
'...All within an atmosphere that delicately envelops or overlaps those details, much like an abstract word describes the quality of a concrete object.'
This perspective resonates with my current pursuit: to explore visual language as a means to perhaps discover a relationship that liberates it from violence.
I have exhibited at Borges Cultural Center, UCA Fine Arts Pavilion, Rubbers Gallery, and Phuyu Gallery, among others. My works are held in private collections in Argentina and abroad. Available for commissions and international shipping."
Formally trained in Graphic Design at the University of Buenos Aires, I complement my practice with specialized studies in tactile and technical disciplines: bookbinding (handmade artist books), screen printing (limited editions), and analog photography (alternative processes). My painting developed under the mentorship of Eduardo Medici (2010-2013), focusing on material experimentation. Later, I engaged in rigorous conceptual analysis with Tulio de Sagastizábal (2016-2019), deepening my dialogue between technique and meaning. Recently, I’ve incorporated electronics (2024) to explore intersections of analog and digital media.
