Andrés Gómez Ríos

In my work I speak of the symbolic body, the body senses and perceptions, the ghosts of desire and memory, made of fragments and associations. Figures that justify their existence in their anonymity, that weave partnerships between different levels of experiences and memories.
Each dissected body, mutilated, deformed, is linked to the waiting period to their fate in captivity.
I ended up painting a closed and hostile to their trivial use body. Distorted the physical reality where some figures are pronounced in those urgent hands that can break and regroup according to the capacity to intervene, build or destroy, so imperiously in the incidents of daily life.
Figures that move alone, remaining in expectation, far from signifying characters fighting their internal conciliation.

He attended art workshops with artists Fernando Davila y Augusto Ardila, also received artistic training with the engraving artist Luis Paz at the National University of Colombia. He studied art history with Ivonne Pini and Ana Maria Lozano at the University of the Andes, Bogotá Colombia.
