Anke Slebos

Realism is the illusion that we understand the world around us.
In my work I ask questions of distance, closeness and our oscillation between the two. Perspective and meaning making depends on our distance from the object, it can only ever be a fractional understanding of reality.
Using images of arial landscapes and space I am inspired by the mystery of not fully understanding our surrounding and of our ability to appreciate beauty despite of not quite knowing why.
