Anke Gielen

Let me introduce myself, my name is Anke Gielen (1983).
I am a creative mother of two who is currently living in Venlo (Netherlands) as an art teacher, who likes getting things done.

2017 was the year that turned my life upside down. I had a miscarriage after 15 weeks of pregnancy and not much later I lost my dear father, who was my best friend, inspiration and also an artist.

To deal with this loss I started working on myself. During this process, two things kept recurring as a central theme: “Mother nature”, as a symbol for us human beings, and the fact that we are part of a larger whole.

By picking up my pencil and starting to paint again, I was able to find some peace and to accept the situation. I am grateful for coming close to myself again and letting my creativity flow. I therefore live by the motto: "no matter what, do not stop creating".

I get inspired by nature and especially flowers. It’s Wonderful how it is able to create itself.

Strength and vulnerability are in my work.

I work with colors, intuition, shapes and lines. All of these I try to combine with different materials and techniques, which results in a unique, multi-layered artwork. I want to be part of peoples interior by adding a colorful ...
