Color is the most important element in my paintings. As a "colorist painter" I am always putting colors together in different ways and exploring new palettes of pigments. Texture is a great companion to color and adds a dimension of complexity to the work. With acrylic paint I can play with all of the new textural mediums and take advantage of fine art collage papers. I also work in oil which is the easiest for careful, unhurried mixing of colors. Painting has been my passion for the past twenty years.
Rather than studying art at a university, my art training consisted of a five year apprenticeship to a master colorist painter in California, Michael Linstrom. I was extremely lucky to find a mentor that loved color as much as I do and who had the ability to convey his love and enthusiasm for art as well as his deep knowledge of many different approaches to painting.
