Archana Gupta

To introduce myself briefly, I am Dr. Archana Gupta, Born and brought up in Gwalior (M.P). Lived in many places and got to study folk art of many states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Karnataka.
As my mother told I started drawing the day I started holding pencil. Though it was just a hobby with time it became my passion and now my profession. It’s been now 30 years I am painting almost every day. I had shows all over India, just shifted 3 years back from Delhi to Bangalore… Already had more than 20 exhibitions till date, from Renaissance Art Gallery, Phoenix mall, Forum Value mall, Palm meadows, Brigade Metropolis and top of all Pebbles, Palace ground with organizers like Kitsch Mandi. My works are theme-based but each paintings has a story to tell, Sometimes when I paint I throw the colours on to the canvas either directly or after wetting them, watching them blend with each other. Sometimes I used my thumb and fingers to spread the colours, though I also work with knives and spatula. My art is spontaneous, but over the years I have seen that the image of the woman constantly appear in my work and that’s the reason few people call me ‘Feminist Artist’.
