Aaron Wetjen-Barry

a_ronious is the artistic persona of Aaron Wetjen-Barry, a Boston-based abstractionist. my art is primarily made in two styles: one incorporates vibrant, hard-staining inks and paints intended for graffiti but used on clayboard or gessoboard in a psychedelic vein, versus the more stripped-down, expressive black & white work made with an ink dauber on paper or board. A long time record clerk and music obsessive, records always spin while I create and so I see the art and music as intrinsically, symbiotically interlinked. I make vinyl-to-cassette mixtapes documenting the music that inspires my art which can be enjoyed for free at my website in the section called '_ronitapes'.

Graduated from Emerson College in 2005 with a major in Writing, Literature and Publishing and a minor in Visual Art. I'm as Burroughsian as I am Basquiatic...

a_ronious art has been displayed in group exhibitions in New London, CT at Hygienic Arts and multiple Boston-area group shows such as Legends of Style at the Cyclorama, Raw Artists presents Trend in Malden, Art100 in the Piano Craft Gallery plus a solo show via The Gallery Event in Dorcester.
