Arsen Azatyan

Arsen Azatyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia.
Nariné Mkrtchyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia.

They both majored in film directing of the culture faculty at Yerevan Pedagogical Institute. Since graduating in 1981, they worked at the Armenfilm State Studio, directing five short films based on their own scenarios. In 1990 they established AYSOR and, later on, AYSOR-PLUS FILM PRODUCTIONS, the first independent production company since the collapse of USSR. To-date, they directed 14 films, including four full-length feature films based on their scenarios. Their films participated in more than 50 international film festivals, including Berlin, Locarno, Montreal, Rotterdam, Busan, Sydney, Moscow, Edinburgh, Goteborg, Taormina, Fajr, Tarragona, Odence, Belgrade, Cottbus, Kolkata etc. The films led to a critical acclaim and earned them awards and prizes, before being distributed in some countries.
