Midwest Aerial View

The stimulus of my work comes from interpreting digital images of the planet’s geography through modern technological applications such as Google Maps, and photography taken from my travels from the air. Overwhelmed by the earth’s natural beauty presenting as a visual abstract from aerial heights, I aim to express different moods and my interpretation, my imagination at work of views I observe. By using a wide color palette, gestural and spontaneous brushstrokes, I create patterns from the earth’s natural inspiration. Is that a road, river, building or field? The scale of my work and the boldness in mark making aid in a self-expression that empowers me. I am working to invent a signature that expands on the foundation of abstraction.
