Ocean Sky Series

Suzanne Merritt works primarily with the ancient medium of encaustic, consisting of molten beeswax, resin, and mineral pigments. In many of her Ocean Sky paintings, she also incorporates oil and ink. Her paintings move from translucent, smooth-as-glass to rough, mottled surfaces, the dimensional, often hazy spaces evoking a sense of serenity and peace.
