The title of the collection - Promenade - started with an idea to reimagine the prolific works of early 20th Century Belgian painter Leon Spilliaert. Spilliaert's works frequently depict scenes of the Belgian coastline and landscape; often dreamlike, melancholic and silent. The starting point began by walking in the darkness - either at dawn or dusk. "On one of these journeys I found my Spilliaert moment : that turning point between light and dark, between clear and deep black, between reason and dream.” These works combine a contemporary vision with old & new photographic techniques that capture the atmosphere of the elusive artist.
