Portraits of the Suri Tribe from the Omo Valley in Ethiopia, rendered in oils & watercolour. An exceptionally creative people, The Suri express their deep relationship with nature by adorning themselves with intricate clay face painting, fresh flowers & beading. Whilst painting these portraits, I reflected on the many conversations & shared moments I had with tribal members during my stay in 2019. With every brush stroke, I felt the emotion of hearing their worries & grief, their passions & hopes. Here is the next generation of the Suri Tribe, preserving their culture but looking towards the future in a rapidly changing world. A portion of all sales of artworks will go to Survival International to support tribal rights in Ethiopia.
