The origin of the altarpieces dates back to colonial times in Peru. The priests traveled from town to town carrying this small altar with images of catholic saints on the back of a mule to evangelize the indigenous people. Today this is an important handicraft object. The artisans carve the wood and give it a golden finish simulating the gold of the Peruvian church altars. Reproductions of colonial paintings skillfully made by painters are placed. They are religious images of saints, virgins, archangels etc. I found it interesting to place my photographs with a certain touch of eroticism on an object where to "look" it is necessary to open doors. Then, you can close them as someone who keeps a secret.
