Body parts...or so it goes...is one of a series of prints, a study in aging using elements of the self-portrait and multi-layered printing technique to create an original, one-of-a-kind print. The series was developed to explore the changes and result of aging isolating different parts of the body. I began photographing and using the photos like pieces of a puzzle, a puzzle that only hinted at what the final image might look like, essentially a truncated view. Constructing and producing the series gave me both a micro and macro understanding of the evolving changes with my own self-image against the backdrop of aging. I gained an understanding of its impact and how we define ourselves as a result of these changes...and so it goes!
