This collection of paper weavings flutter in the wind like wings as they hang on the wall representing the US-Mexican wall. They embody this truth: that the things we try to separate are often intrinsically woven together. There is also something beautiful about borders and in-between spaces. I did this series of weavings when I was living in Puebla, Mexico. Also known as Angelopolis, this was a place and time when it seemed as if beauty exploded (as well as the local volcano). I made these from the Spanish newspapers I tried to decipher each day and pasted it together with toothpaste. As I hung them up to photograph them, they became a wall fluttering in the wind like angel wings.
