Hypnagogia

Hypnagogia is the transitional state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleep — a threshold where reality begins to dissolve. In this in-between space, it's common to experience involuntary and imagined sensations: fleeting sounds, whispered conversations, rushes of vivid images, and even physical impressions, all just as I begin to drift off. I've experienced this since childhood, but only became aware of it — and gave it a name — at the age of 23. Recently, I discovered that this mysterious state is known as hypnagogia. To me, it feels like a third mode of existence, distinct from both waking life and dreaming. It carries a fragile, otherworldly balance — something uniquely intimate and impossible to fully hold onto.
