Post apocalyptic mandalas

In this series of paintings the unconscious, male and female, and the human need to possess canes and fetishes to escape routine, are projected in the use of the mandala, "the perfect circle," which I distort and shape. The unconscious has always fascinated me. In the second year of the course I became interested in the work of Antonio Damasio, who talks about the capacity of our brain to map our life. The mandala is something I identified as a perfect map. It represents our tendency to try to stabilize the rhythms of life, to order something that we already know we're not going to achieve. We try to organize our lives through rituals, and I went for the fetish that is one more stick in our lives.
