Encounters
Myers visited India in 2018 during the latter moments of monsoon season as it retreated through tropical landscapes of Goa. He thinks about the powerful affinity with these luscious landscapes and tries to put this energy into the paintings. The banana leaf motif has taken on the resonance of a figure as a central subject of his work; they are little doses of realism that speak the language of the landscape and carry the narrative of his experiences; they are symbolic of the Indian culture and approaches to life. The series was created as a response to Indian experiences upon Myers' return to Wales. The scenes relate to particular moments or places that interested Myers.
