This is one of the subdivisions of 'The Paintings Section from Davis Museum Barcelona' (www.davismuseum.com). Dedicated to oil-on-canvas portraits of Marcel Broodthaers, this series focuses on the Belgian artist's influential legacy. Known for establishing the 'Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles,' Broodthaers critiqued cultural institutions and redefined the role of the artist within them. Through these portraits, Davis Lisboa captures Broodthaers’ persona and his radical ideas, paying homage to his profound impact on contemporary art and its institutional frameworks.
