This series of oil paintings consists of artistic masterpieces. The colours are translated into black, gray and white values. ‘Translation’, as we are not talking about copying a masterpiece. Indeed, copying requires to respect the successive layers bringing the readability of the work. I transcribe the visible part directly on the canvas without worrying about the layers used by the painter. Paradoxically, this translation of past masterpieces presents a great contemporaneity:pluralism and globalityGenerally speaking, I prefer enlarged formats in order to accentuate visual power. Translating enables me also to paint a masterpiece more than once as its exclusive nature no longer exists.
