Roving spirits of the American West, mustangs wander across these canvases, I capture their wild grace through gestural brushwork and swirling hues echoing the ochres, chestnuts, and slates of the landscapes that shaped them. Their forms emerge from raw sienna underpaintings, evoking the desert sands that bore these icons of freedom. Drawn to horses as symbols of nature’s power and nobility, I'm inspired by the vast spaces of the California deserts and Spanish sierras where herds still roam. More than portraying their outer beauty, I seek to convey the indomitable life force mustangs embody. These paintings celebrate their untamed spirit, as inexhaustible as the western lands they inhabit.
