Oculus – An Abstract Study in Five Parts

This series presents five abstract interpretations of New York’s Oculus, exploring the structure as both architecture and metaphor. Each image isolates a gesture: the outstretched wings, the repeating vertebrae, the ghostly silhouette in mist. Minimalised in monochrome to accentuate form and feeling, the series invites reflection on the interplay between structure and softness — between flight and groundedness. Unified by an expansive 16:9 aspect ratio, each piece is composed to evoke a sense of scale and spatial presence. Each work stands alone or may be viewed as part of a cohesive set. “Dove” is the only image in color, where soft reddish-brown leaves introduce a quiet contrast to the pale sculptural form.
