AUTHENTIC 2020 - 2021

This body of work is influenced by young African creatives in Africa, and focuses on how contemporary African culture and design has evolved over the years. The vision for Authentic is about appreciating and depicting the growth of young African entrepreneurs and creatives. The healing and change of the old colonised African mindset is what drives Nkalashe to paint and be inspired by the youth of today. Nkalashe feels that it is important to document the positive current times and hopefully to instill a beautiful creative mindset to those who are lost within the structures and expectations of society. Nkalashe believes this will allow the viewer to be encouraged and to look internally to find their purpose.
