Cocoon Part one: Living

Cocoon is the name I’ve given to my family archive project. After the pandemic in 2023, I was finally able to visit my mom in China. Since 2018, my mother has been living alone. During my visit, I noticed her cognitive decline—she often forgets names, events, and everyday details. This realization prompted me to start documenting her life through painting, photography, and other mediums. The first part, Living, focuses on our home surroundings, where she now lives independently—solitary, yet resilient. The everyday objects are sentimental, becoming silent witnesses to her life. I believe that still-life objects can convey a profound range of emotional narratives, offering opportunities for interpretation and reflection.
