Pests

Animals categorised as pests are often associated with dirt, disease, irritation and disgust, they therefore occupy the very bottom of the hierarchy of the species. Due to their tendency to invade human territory, they cause a great deal of fear and anxiety, which by far outweighs any more measured considerations of the creature as an independent entity. This project seeks to offer an alternative perspective on pests, and elevate their status by re-constructing their identity through photography, representing them as self-interested individuals worthy of portrayal.
