Petzval Seasons
I set about creating a project where I would explore a goal of capturing the feeling of the seasons. In this the form should still be natural and recognizable - but sharpness would only be used where it was essential to the image.
The other limitation I imposed on myself was that the visual manipulation must, save for contrast and tonality, must be achieved in the initial digital capture.
In order to achieve this I used a Petzval formula lens, which has a number of characteristics which would allow a more fluid capture of the essence of the scene.
In October 2017 images from this project were covered in an article in Landscape Photography Magazine (https://landscapephotographymagazine.com/2017/who-needs-sharpness/).
