Routemaster Rain

I’ve been fascinated with the refractive effect of water on glass for many years - be it rain, mist or condensation. In this project, I photographed through the top deck front window of the classic red London “Routemaster” Buses. Some images show the glass manufacturer's mark. Artworks include the street/landmark name along with the bus/route number. External conditions vary from small droplets to torrential rain, often creating a heavy distortion of the scene beyond the window. Mist on the inside may add to the impressionistic effect, along with smearing due to the windscreen wipers. The series is a celebration of the famous London Buses - the red blood cells that carry life through the city and keep the city moving.
