Relief prints

Linocut and woodcut are printmaking techniques in which a sheet of linoleum or a piece of wood is used for a relief surface. The design is cut into the linoleum or wood surface with a chisel or gouge, with the raised, uncarved areas representing a mirror image of the parts to show printed. The carved sheet is inked with a roller (brayer), and then impressed onto paper by hand or with a printing press.
