The Cutting Edge

A New Year, a New Perspective! This year, I decided to challenge myself by doing something entirely different than what I have ever done - creating depth within a piece. "The Cutting Edge" series is a set of Mixed-Media works, first painted with the finest Winsor Newton Gouache Paint on Arches Hot or Cold Press Watercolor Paper. After the paint dries, I slice into the paper to reveal either the white organic cotton canvas or the black mat-board upon which the painting is mounted. The revealed whites or blacks add another layer to the painting's story. The shadows created by the cut-out shapes create their own unexpected subtle drama.
