ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My work is about awareness of plastic pollution and the global warming problem that we're facing right now. *Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans. *100.000 marine mammals and turtles and 1 million sea birds are killed by marine plastic pollution annually. As if we needed any more reasons to be concerned about the alarming scale of plastic pollution, it has now been discovered that this unbiodegradable substance can contribute to global warming as well. A study conducted by the University of Hawaii has demonstrated that when plastic is exposed to direct sunlight, it can react to produce the harmful greenhouse gases (GHG) methane and ethylene. Considering the amount of plastic washing ashore on our coastlines, we need to stop plastic production, especially single-use plastic! If we don't, we'll give ourselves virtually zero chances to change the global warming situation. "JUST IMAGINE WHAT WE CAN DO IF 7.7 BILLION PEOPLE TRULY BELIEVE THEIR ACTION MAKES A DIFFERENCE."
