Nature provides us with complex and beautiful forms and I like to take some of those and give them a human touch by disposing pieces to make different compositions. In this piece I am using pine cones, deconstructing them and giving them an other rhythm to meet my aesthetic expression.

I was born in Colombia in 1978 to an artist and an architect. I have three siblings and we grew up in a rural environment in the heart of the Andes, where nature and art were present in my everyday life. After high school, I studied anthropology and started working with indigenous communities in the Amazonian region in a project that aimed to provide women a steady income for their households through their crafts. During this time I became close to the craft making of these indigenous groups and learned a lot from them. I was especially attracted to the textile work, and it impelled me to pursue the possibilities of implementing it with my own artistic perspective. Later on I moved to New York where I learned to weave and became passionate about fiber art. After a few years in the United States, I moved to Barcelona (Spain) where I studied textile art and found, progressively, a space of expression in weaving. Now I live in Marseille (France) with my family (husband and two children) where I have established myself and my artistic work. I have also moved from weaving to collage as a main technique of expression.
