This piece is a 36x36x8 inch sculptural painting on canvas and it's made of 100% trash. Very often in my works I use discarded materials to come to reflect quite a bit on issues linked with consumerism. For this piece, I used a bunch of waste paper such as crumpled advertising sheets of discounted products, and I assembled a giant trashy-doll dressed in a worn skirt, a worn shoe, and a worn bow on the head. This work ponders on the quantity of waste produced by the west of the world where consumption is faster and quantitatively greater than production, and it seems to be the main form of social inclusion and identity. Too often, our waste becomes a luxury for poor countries. In this case, a fat doll made of trash is a luxury toy for a poor kid.

My life began in Italy, in a small town nestled between the sea and the mountains. "Teate Degli Abruzzi", meaning, the "Land of Shepherds", is a wild and archaic territory where I spent most of my youth in close contact with the surrounding nature. My parents always told me that I began creating before I started talking. Indeed, some of my earliest memories are of days spent entirely gathering, reimagining, and crafting life from discarded things. Over the years, I have utilized the unique nature and dynamics of a multitude of materials – whether organic, inorganic, or synthetic – morphing them into new imagery and imbuing them with a new identity. Materials speak to me aloud. Despite their imperfections, rawness, and precariousness, they contain forces beyond our control in a continuous fluctuation between ephemerality and resilience. To this day, exploring the surroundings and gathering whatever inspires me is still the core of my practice. My process is led by a feeling of the transience of life which I strive to rehabilitate into a timeless dimension. I have exhibited extensively in Italy, Europe, and the US with critical acclaim since 1990. I've been living in the United States since 2015 working with numerous galleries across the country. I continue to investigate mixed media techniques as vehicles to embody my experiences and my vision of life.
