I studied at a language school in Florence in 2014 and tore these posters form the walls during my stay in that magical city. However it appears that the local authorities don't allow posters in the historic and immaculate city centre so it was from the outskirts of Florence that I ripped these pieces and tears of posters. I hope that it replicates and even improves on the visual splendour of the torn poster billboards I saw and photographed in the outskirts of this city. My postcard from the city is a broken and shattered surface of joy which came together as if by itself and I just guided the torn fragments to correct position as it happened. People visit Florence and quite rightly photograph all the famous places, and although I did that as well, however I'm also drawn to the back streets, the hidden quarters, the side streets, the graffiti and the slightly raggedy side of a city for which this artwork hopefully reflects to the viewer. Grazie Firenze!
