About The Artwork
This collage is created on a light weight wooden panel. The background consists of strips of vintage text, sheet music, maps and ephemera hand cut and laid in a horizontal pattern. On top of this is a circle of text cut from a vintage atlas. The multi-colored skull is cut from a anatomy text and hand cut vintage illustrations on place on top. The sides are painted black and this piece is wired for hanging. No frame is needed.

Artist statement: Collage lends itself to improvisation, spontaneity and the unexpected discovery. I begin with no final product in mind but put something down and respond to the materials and try to find images that resonate with each other. Sometimes this happens quickly but more often it takes a long time before I complete a collage. I have always been drawn to the surrealistic, the poetic image and the dreamlike.
