When I realized after the first sponge work how well sponges also work as pixels, I had to immediately implement the new project the next morning. Who would be more perfect than Mona-Lisa? The contrast of the ordinary cleaning sponge as a tool for the most famous smile from the Louvre, creeps subtly through the geometric streets of the sponge joints. Each of these 380 sponges has been touched separately in color and matched to the original. To seal the sponge and ensure durability, each is doused with bio-epoxy resin, giving it its interesting tile character. Amazing what our brain is capable of, when you experience the near-far effect of this work. Not only that suddenly shines the Mona lisa, you can even feel her smile!
