French-Lao Artist currently based in Prague I spent the first part of my life growing up by the forests and the earthy landscapes of North France. In my memory, life at home was contrasting with the typical french countryside that I cherish. It was a nest, where the warm and colourful Lao culture of our family was blending naturally with the beauty of the region. After living many years full of rich experiences in Paris, then attending Fine Arts School in Lorient and Brno, experimenting different media such as photo-documentary, painting, drawing, I moved to the heart of Europe, Prague. We all come from different points of origin, sometimes moving our roots from place to place, carrying with us our memories, our cultural heritage. I collect and share moments of our day to day lives, simple and complex, using the language of illustration. Words, objects, places. I feel the happiest when I know that all of this, this collection of pictures, is a conversation that I have with You. Yako Ona - Illustrator As far as I remember, I was making lists ever since I was a child. I saved some of them in a corner of my mind. For example, here is a list of dream jobs, from age 8 to 18: astrophysicist, cook, librarian, Indiana Jones, semanticist, Japanese translator, pastry chef, champion of free fight, cartoonist, illustrator, fisherwoman… Then I grew old, and like every grown-up, I started to write down shopping lists, inventories, to-do lists, with numbers on it and so on, losing this childlike naivety (and oh so endearing) in the way we look at the world. I like this sentence from Saint-Exupery: it’s only with the heart that one can see right, what is essential is invisible to the eye. So from time to time, in an attempt to unlearn what it is to be an adult and reeducate my heart, I rewrite and draw those lists, in the most simple way.
