19" x 25", alcohol ink painting strips threaded against linen canvas. Thread continues around the natural wood frame. Signed and wired on back. Part of a "Quarantine Confession" series, this piece is a nod to Zoom Happy Hours as a means to maintain a social connection. Shards of paintings and tangled thread represent the upheaval and subsequent piecing together of a life in quarantine and a new normal.

Julie Pelaez combines her conceptual Advertising background with a variety of mixed media to create feel-good abstract artworks centered on themes of human connection and empowerment. Her practice includes exhibitions, commissions, wallpaper design, corporate installations with Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, United Heritage Credit Union, and Kendra Scott, as well as print collaborations with national retailers such as Wexel Art, Four Hands Art Studio, Perigold and HomeGoods. She spent a decade as an Advertising Art Director in her first career, followed by a break for motherhood before becoming a full-time artist in 2017. Julie passionately soaks up life and squeezes out color from her home studio in Austin where she lives with her husband and 2 sons.
