VIEW IN MY ROOM
This mixed media assemblage was awarded 3rd prize at the Viridian Gallery Juried Art Show in 2018. It was created while I attended an artist retreat in the Hudson Valley, New York, inspired by erosion of natural materials such as stone and shells. The areas of black and white linework complement the cool blues, creating areas of tension and calm. This combination of materials (acrylic, canvas, fabric, paper, watercolor, digital prints, mylar, painted silk, wire, crayon, foam, and marker) was playfully experimental, and led to my using mylar, pvc and other unconventional mediums in my work. The piece is textural and sculptural, with overlapping components, differences in opacity and surface treatments.

I live and work in lovely Weehawken, NJ, a small town on the Hudson River. A lifelong artist, I studied at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome, Italy. Inspired by nature, landscapes and erosion, I love organic shapes. I work intuitively and experimentally, driven by composition, color, and texture. My experiences in textile design and printmaking inform my process, showing up in the pattern, layering and composition of the work.
