I observe. Humans and emotions, everyday moments. Then I paint them. The Cat or the Dog in me decides whether I want to sit with them. Or lay on their couch My Avatars name is CatDogville. Digital Artist Welcome friend to my cyberworld Finalist for 'See|Me' open call during Scoop, Miami, Art Basel Week december 2021 in Florida. Honorable mentioned and showed at 'Emerge', Blue gallery New York 2022. About me by a friend: 'CatDogville paints using the touch screen on a high definition tablet without losing the great humanity that chartacterises her work. She creates images that have a painterly touch as well as a dramatic one, conveying a certain darkness and mystery. Born in the Netherlands in 1950, the artist currently lives in Sweden. Drawing on a computer was something she always found exciting and fascinating. In the eighties she had her first exhibition with computer-drawings. And she has been using the computer to make sketches and designs for her paintings, already since she started drawing. Discovering to draw/paint on an iPad was very interesting, so enjoyable that she feels totally free. All came together! Paint and brushes were never her favourite material. Pencil, dry needle, etching, scratching etc. was always her preferred way of expressing herselves. Finding out that the surface of an iPad is hard and solid: she could paint with a pencil ! Mostly her work starts with a photographic image. A subject that touches her can inspire her to make a fast sketch. Then she can see if it is interesting to go on with. She has trouble to draw out of my head. This mentioned, she leaves the picture alone and uses her sketch to start with a new work. The sense of light, the mood, the colours, the feeling of a painting does not come easily: It appears by working, experience and chance and every day. That is for her a statement'.
