India
Nipun is a digital artist, screenwriter and video artist; his work centres around the psychology of spiritual and mystical experiences. For inspiration, he looks at the art and texts of ancient cultures for the mystery and insight they provide through obscuring and revealing meaning. The psychological drawings or psycho-grams in Carl Jung’s The Red Book have fascinated him since he saw them. He is also intrigued by Rorschach and ink blots and how the sense of perception intertwines with personality, and how it relates to the process of drawing. His fascination with the visual does not end with the image. He continually experiments with different substrates for illustrations. For the listed works on Saatchi, he chose metallic canvas as the surface of his art, which seemed appropriate for the subject matter. Previously, he worked on media such as oil, clay sculpture, and murals.
