About The Artwork

Introducing our glorious friend, Otto, the platypus, who is in a permanent identity crisis. His shiny-eyed optimism however fuels him, and he forever borrows different evolutionary ideas from other species to see if he can ever feel at ease. We see him here afloat with the wings of a bat he has on loan. In stunning pop colours, this fine-art print is a beautiful, funny & irreverent conversation piece and delights and entertains everyone who meets Otto. Ideal for the the contemporary, original and un-stuffy interior that treasures and appreciates craft & luxury print materials, but does not take itself too seriously. An original character and artwork by award-winning artist & character designer Idil Sukan. This Limited Edition fine art print is printed on Hahnemühle German Etching paper. 60cm x 60cm is the print size; 80cm x 80cm is the total size of the paper (a 10cm perimeter blank border is included on each side). It is signed & numbered under the print by the artist.

Idil Sukan is an artist, writer & Creative Director working in Istanbul, developing work at the intersect between visual art and storytelling, marrying both digital technology & artisanal craft. Her acclaimed fine art commercial photographic portraiture photos are regularly seen across the UK press, album covers and sleeves and book covers. Her work has been formally acquired by the National Portrait Gallery. Exploring identities within one individual and the gaps between them - how we choose to portray ourselves, how our identity is shaped by a series of curated depictions of ourselves (photographs in social media, in the press, on our personal websites) in contrast to how we unwittingly come across to others. The different contextual identities we develop, socially, at work, or in photographs - simultaneously confessional yet carefully cultivated.
