Inspired by my many drawings of the classical Aphrodite nude icon and derived from remnants of an ancient sculpture (the Venus de Milo). My original drawings of this Greek goddess of love and beauty were done in the classical-realist tradition using graphite and carbone. Based upon them, I've witnessed different aspects of her torso emphasized. This contemporary digital drawing/painting conveys this repeated experience by creating a deconstruction-reconstruction of Aphrodite -- particularly suitable for our times when both love and beauty are being dismantled.

Abstract and Imaginatively Representational artworks that celebrate life's diversity. The focus is upon lyrical and dramatic moments of interaction between our inner and outer worlds -- where beauty is seen in many unusual forms. As an artist, I revel in the sensually dynamic qualities of paint and colour and wish for my work to connect with others in ways that enliven the senses, experience, and imagination. My art studio (open to visitors) is on magical Saturna Island, B.C., where I create works that have won some awards, appeared in news and media, and are part of private and public collections in several parts of the world.
