Valdisotto (Italy), July 28, 1987, 7:27 am. Electricity and telephone lines are interrupted; after a few moments, from the portable radios of the observers located on the slopes facing Mount Coppetto, the detachment of the landslide and its overturning downstream onto the village of Sant'Antonio Morignone is announced. The landslide, with its 40 million cubic meters of rock, had started moving from an altitude of 2150 meters above sea level, sliding downhill for about fifty meters, momentarily bracing against a slope discontinuity, and consequently, due to inertia, tipping forward, crashing down onto the bed of the Adda river located several hundred meters below its trajectory. The immense violence of the impact of this still compact mass on the valley floor erased the hamlets of Sant'Antonio Morignone, Morignone, and Aquilone, killing 35 people.

Davide Maggioni (Lecco, 1973). After attending the Liceo Artistico Statale "Medardo Rosso" in Lecco, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Milan. He lives and works in Merate (LC). In my work () I seek to explore the interplay between forms, spaces, and concepts, aiming to create artworks that invite observers to reflect on the relationship between environment and perception. I explore the possibilities of transforming our understanding of space and dimension, bringing to light the hidden connections between matter and imagination. Through the use of different techniques and materials, I strive to create works that manifest as multisensory experiences, stimulating critical reflection on our relationship with the built and natural environment. Through a constant dialogue with the natural world, I seek to capture the essence and beauty by illuminating the deep connections between humans and the surrounding environment. In my works, nature becomes not only subject but also a source of inspiration and guidance, synonymous with transformation and decay. By using materials that carry traces of time and experience, I aim to create works that reflect the depth and mutability of nature itself, exploring its transformative power and the eternal cycle of growth and decline. Nature thus becomes a sort of mentor, a constant reference point that guides me in my artistic journey, fueling my creativity and inspiring me to explore new artistic horizons.
